“I’ve always volunteered my time to serve others,” Julie Hanson, BSN, RN, Clinical Education Manager continues, “I believe it’s our purpose as human beings.” In February, Julie, along with members of her church, organized a medical and humantiarian mission to the Philippines. They raised $23,000 (more than double their goal!) and treated more than 1,500 people.
Last week, we held our second Patient Family Advisory Committee (PFAC) meeting. PFAC meetings are one of the many ways our patients and families are connecting to Independence Plus.
Our friends over at Wheel:Life, a global online community for people who use wheelchairs, are hosting their third annual “Get Out, Enjoy Life!” photo contest. The contest encourages people who use wheelchairs to get out of the house and enjoy their summer by attending events, going on vacation, or trying a new activity.
Independence Plus recently launched its Patient Family Advisory Committee to help build stronger partnerships with our patients and their families. Many heartfelt stories, concerns, and even laughs were shared among the patients and families who participated in our inaugural Patient Family Advisory Committee meeting.
