These tips are good however as a long time night nurse if your patient is ASLEEP. The nurse should Not clean, restock or organize the room that the patient is sleeping in!! How would they get any sleep with a light and all that racket going on! I have spent many years of listening to family members complain that they hear the noises and can’t sleep well either. These activities should be fine before the family goes to sleep. 🙂
Hi Tina – Thanks for your comment! In our experience, we’ve found that every patient is different. As a nurse, it’s important to know what works (and doesn’t work) for your patient’s environment. Thanks for sharing – and keep up the good work!
I like to read, but sometimes depending on what you are reading, reading will make you sleepy. What works for me when reading does’nt is listening to a good talk radio station. I like to listen to Dave Ramsey, a financial talk show it is lively and keeps you stimulated with the quetions people call in and ask. You also learn some good information. I use my ear piece, but I only use one, in one ear, because you still have to be alert and aware of what is going on with you client. Also listening to music is good.
Hi, Martha! Thank you for your great ideas and suggestions! We’ll pass on the talk radio and music ideas!
