Someone you should know: Eduardo “Ed” D., Senior Healthcare Liaison

Our People

Eduardo “Ed” D., IPI Senior Healthcare Liaison

At Independence Plus, Inc. (IPI), every member of our staff is committed to our mission of providing exemplary care and services for people at home with complex medical and respiratory needs. One essential part of our team is our Healthcare Liaisons, who work around-the-clock to schedule our patients’ shifts and meet their needs as much as their benefits allow. It takes a special person to fill this role, and that is exactly what we have found in Eduardo “Ed” D., our Senior Healthcare Liaison. ”We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude. The Healthcare Liaison team is very grateful to have Ed as part of our One Team,” said Shineka Ammons, MHRM, Healthcare Liaison Manager. “His ‘whatever it takes’ attitude has made all the difference in our efforts to deliver the best home care for our patients.” Celeste Clarke, our Vice President of Patient and Employee Relations, considers Ed “a calm, thoughtful man who listens to his patients (and nurses!) and always tries to piece together the puzzle, in the best way possible.” We sat down with Ed recently to find out why he wanted to work in home healthcare, what he has learned from his role, and who inspires him.

Q: Tell us a little about your background, what brought you to IPI, and how long you have worked with the company.
A: I have been with IPI almost a year and a half now. My background has always been about patient care whether directly or indirectly. What brought me here to IPI was that they deal with patient care and I knew I would be a great asset to the team.

Q: What made you want to work in the home healthcare business?
A: I genuinely care about the patients and their needs. I play a key role in coordinating care for our patients, making sure that they have a nurse to care for them. I am able to help the patients receive care and I take great pride in that.

Q: What does your job entail and what do you enjoy most about your role?
A: Staffing and scheduling assignments, and providing additional support to not only my team but as well to our patients.

Q: Who inspires you?
A: My mom, she is the epitome of selflessness.

Ed and the IPI team of Healthcare Liaisons including Washuna, Marcheta, Chris, Carli, and Shineka (Healthcare Liaison Manager).

Q: What are you most proud of?
A: That I help others without expecting anything in return.

Q: What words do you live by?
A: Is it really worth it?

Q: What is the one thing about yourself that you think people would be surprised to know?
A: I will be traveling the world in 5 years and hope to open a vegan restaurant within the next 5-10 years.

Q: What have you learned from working with our patients and their families?
A: I have learned to appreciate life because it can always be worse.
