Danilo Coité, MD, Independence Plus, Inc.’s new CEO.

Independence Plus, Inc. (IPI) is pleased to announce an executive leadership change that will help drive the success and growth of the company while continuing our mission and passion for providing complex patient care in the home.

After 30 years at the helm of the company she founded, IPI’s President & CEO Tamara M. Müller will transition to a new role in order to dedicate more time to outside projects primarily related to chronic pulmonary disease management and innovative medical devices. She will remain IPI’s Chairman of the Board.

After a rigorous search, Danilo Coité, MD, has been selected as the company’s new CEO, effective immediately.

Dr. Coité is a visionary leader skilled at turning insight into action. He brings a unique blend of medical and business expertise; he offers strategic, decisive guidance and is committed to corporate goals and objectives. Dr. Coité is a resourceful problem solver with talent for identifying need and creating effective solutions; and he is dedicated to building a path of sustainable growth that will help to improve the quality of care, accessibility, and affordability.

“IPI was founded with the objective of improving the lives of patients who require in-home healthcare by delivering the right care at the right time and preventing complications and re-hospitalizations,” Müller said. “My commitment to that goal and to the patients we serve is unwavering. My time has been divided between IPI and the other two projects for the last few years and I’m excited to bring Dr. Coité on board to focus solely on Independence Plus and to effect the changes needed for our patient population. He is the executive with the ability to move us toward realizing our vision.”

Dr. Coité shares the company’s core values and passion for patient care in the home, and looks forward to embarking on projects aimed at developing IPI’s brand and helping to establish new and innovative ideas to embrace opportunities that lie ahead.

“I’m really excited to join Independence Plus and work with the exceptional team Tami assembled during her tenure as CEO and President. IPI is committed to delivering quality in-home medical care and being an innovator in providing healthcare services in nontraditional ways,” Coitė said. “I look forward to sharing my experiences and bringing solutions to deliver optimal care while engaging with patients and their families. Healthcare is going through a major reform trying to identify the right resource allocation that includes costs, people, and access. We need to have a broader solution for our clinically complex patients to deliver the right care to patients no matter who and where they are.”
